Our way of proceeding
This workshop is based on Ignatian (Jesuit) spirituality. Jesuits are to be found in every part of the world – always drawing from their Catholic heritage and always seeking dialogue with others.
The workshop will help you to reflect on your own life in the company of others and in a spirit of community and trust. Its all about conversation. You will not be hearing long lectures.
A deeply personal kind of learning takes place in this kind of environment.
Each day, a theme to be addressed
- Monday – our personal stories of public service
- Tuesday – up against power, the challenge of public life.
- Wednesday – our need for community
- Thursday – the limits of community
- Friday – finding my path
- Saturday – revisiting our personal stories
Each day, different kinds of sessions
- Plenaries, to introduce the theme of the day and promote reflection and conversation
- Theme groups (with changing membership each day) to stimulate discussion and reflection
- Reflection groups, for a more personal kind of sharing and mutual support. The membership of each group remains constant
- Examen prayer, a short period of silence (max 10 minutes), for looking back at the day in the God’s presence
- Mass, before breakfast for those who wish on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and
- on the Sunday of arrival for those there by 18
- on Wednesday afternoon in San Marco crypt,
- on Saturday evening, prepared by participants to conclude the workshop
